there are some holes under the left hand, on the halo, and on the lips. there are very few shells to work with for the face. thus, the face of the model is somewhat blurry.

The figure sits in lotus posture with right leg folded over the left. The hands are in abhaya and varada mudra. The usnisa is low and broad, and there is a large hole in the forehead which once held a jewel. A large halo is attached to the back of the head and shoulders. There are traces of green, red, yellow and blue paint over gesso on the figure and halo. A lacquer coating remains at the side of the arms and knees. On the back of the halo a painted bodhisattva figure seated on a lotus remains partially visible. It is possible that this is later than the carving of the figure.
The stone is described as recrystallized brownish-grey limestone, probably originally an ooeplsparite. A thin section shows the rock to be composed of a mosaic of calcite spar with variable grainsize tending to rhombohedral forms.
